Bharat Education Society, Rukadi (converted into a Trust and renamed as Balasaheb Mane Education Trust in 1991)was established in the year 1984 in the loving memory of Late Sambhajirao Mane, the only son of the founder president Shri.Balasaheb Mane,(then the M.P.of Ichalkaranji). Earlier in his life, Shri.Balasaheb Mane had to struggle hard, as he hailed from a moderate family background. He climbed up the ladder of success starting From the sarpanchship of Rukadi to the position of the M.P. of Ichalkaranji constituency, which gave him the opportunity to reach the masses and read their genuine difficulties and the reasons thereof. He had been a keen observer who could understand that helpless, poor and unenlightened masses could be relived of their socio-economic problems only through education.

Once being a rural youth, he had the all round idea of the capacities and qualities of the rural youth and knew that what they need is proper guidance and inspiration. Furthermore, he was inspired by the thoughts and acts of Chhatrapati Shivaji, Rajarshi Shahu and Mahatma Phule. Hence, when he thought of creating a memorial of his son, he established the educational institution, which would help the students, especially girls, in and around Rakudi. Thus, Sambhajirao Mane Girls’ High School was established in 1987. As needs grew, Bharat Education Society started New English School (lateron renamed as Kakasaheb Mane High School) in 1988, Chhatrapati Shivaji Shikshanshastra Mahavidyalaya (B.ED. College) in 1990 and a junior college attached to Sambhajirao Mane Girls’ High School in 1990.

This growth, however, was insufficient as the students had to go either Kolhapur or Ichalkaranji for graduation .Most of the students cannot afford it or they have responsibilities at home i.e. working in their own farms, or as farm-laborers. If they go for higher education in nearby cities, they cannot help their families in this work. Apart from that, due to the social background and constraints majority of girls are not allowed to continue their higher education available at the cities. Consequently, all such students, girls and boys had to stop their education at H.S.C. When Shri Balasaheb Mane observed this, he decided to open a senior college and thus, Rajarshi Shahu Arts and Commerce College was established in 1992. It was in this year that the education society was converted and named after the founder president as Balasaheb Mane Education Trust, Rukadi.

As time went on, the Trust felt the need of developing a study –culture of its own and founded pre-primary Units - Adarsh Balwadi and Sambhajirao Mane Prathmik Vidyalaya in 1998 .Recognizing the need of Computer Education, the Trust also started a Computer Academy , Mahalaxmi Computer Acdeamy , in 2002, which provides necessary and updated knowledge to students from our own institution as well as to students from other institutions .Two other high-schools - Sambare High School, Sambare and Haroli High School, Haroli were taken over by the Trust in 1987 and 1999 respectively.

Now, all these sister institutions run very smoothly under the shelter and support of the mother institution.
